Armed with a killer set of Pioneer's and a catalogue that would leave any DJ's mouth agape, Sean "Selector Sean" Holder is a new face and a force to be reckoned with. Moving the needle since 2005, at the age of 19 the Bajan blood Brooklyn native has rapidly attained a reputation of being the borough's "Best Kept Secret".
Once known for his moves on the dance-floor, Holder wanted to express his passion for music in a different form and started DJ'ing as a hobby. "I loved music…I already knew how to dance- I just wanted to do something different". However, after playing his first gig at the popular Brooklyn nightclub "Club Attractions" it was obvious that the young Selector was blessed with a talent that would take him far beyond the walls of his friend's bedroom where he learned. Seeing ample amount of potential in Holder's newfound "hobby" after only 1 gig, the owner of "Attractions" gave Holder a slot to play in the club. With a flick of his wrist the new DJ attained his first contract. Shortly after, Sean took his new position at "Attractions" and ran with the opportunity to display his talents to his peers. In no time the buzz about the new DJ spread and every-one had the same question: "Who is Selector Sean?" Five years and a catchy tag line of "LASERSSSSSS" later, many people have the answer.
Spinning every-thing from Hip Hop to House, Selector is widely recognized on 3 radio stations for his versatility and of course his "swagger". "…The ladies love him 'nah mean. And the fellas too! He a pretty boy that is wild on the tables and he has a lot to offer every-one ya know? Not just one group." Says a loyal listener of the budding DJ. With a smile to match his skills, its no wonder parties with his name stamped on the flier have a 65:45 female/male ratio. His popularity with females dubbed him the nickname of "The Fire Hydrant". "I get the ladies wet [in a party] sweating their perms out. If a female doesn't leave my party with her hair ruined and a smile on her face I didn't do my job".
Although Selector's name is frequently tossed around the NYC party scene his hard work does not solely remain within the speakers of a nightclub. In September 2010, Sean started his "The Lasers Have Been Activated" collection of mixtapes with a 64-track waistline testing mix of Soca records. The mixtape illustrated immediate success with over 1000 downloads in its debut week summer of 2010. The highly anticipated second leg of the Lasers collection was a Dancehall and Hip-Hop double disc mixtape that dropped Winter 2010. Selector also ended off his 2010 year with his Selector Sean Giveaway. Giving away tickets to see "Trey Songz", "Miguel", and "Usher" live on his radio stations was just a way for Selector to say thank you.
2010 was a great year but no one was prepared for what Selector Sean had planned for 2011. With his double disc mixtape flooding the streets and being played in stores throughout Brooklyn, Selector Sean official launched his college tour. Tearing down colleges left and right, females left the parties dripping wet from dancing all night. In addition to the tour, Selector Sean started his Selector Sean College Tour Giveaway. Giving away tickets to concerts starring "Gyptian", "Iwer George", "Lil Wayne", and "Nicki Minaj" was just another way Selector Sean wanted to show his appreciation to his loyal supporters. Today, Selector Sean continues to do his radio shows, "Activate The Lasers", ""Tear-Up" the clubs, and drop amazing mixtapes.
